About the New York City Child Care Resource and Referral Consortium

The New York City Child Care Resource and Referral Consortium is a partnership of the five New York State funded Child Care Resource and Referral agencies (CCR&R’S) located in New York City. They include: Child Care, Inc., Child Development Support Corporation, Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc., The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, Inc.,  and Day Care Council of New York, Inc. The Consortium maintains a shared computerized database of over 12,000 regulated early care and education programs, and collectively assists over 15,000 families annually to understand and select the best options for their children. Each agency also provides technical assistance and professional development opportunities for early care and education professionals.

Why is Infant & Toddler Care Important?

The first three years of life is a period of enormous growth: intellectual, physical, social, emotional and learning how to use and understand language. During this period, the brain undergoes its most active development and early experiences play a critical role in how the brain develops.

Babies learn about themselves, others and the world around them through relationships. Research has shown that sensitive, responsive relationships are the foundation of healthy development. What children experience everyday, including how people respond to them, shapes their development.

Parents/family and childcare providers are key people in a young baby’s life. Quality licensed child care providers recognize young children as individuals with unique needs, provide security, and an interesting, safe, healthy and developmentally appropriate setting to explore and learn. Parents and providers work together to provide the best possible experience for a developing child and their family.
