Why is Infant & Toddler Care Important?

The first three years of life is a period of enormous growth: intellectual, physical, social, emotional and learning how to use and understand language. During this period, the brain undergoes its most active development and early experiences play a critical role in how the brain develops.

Babies learn about themselves, others and the world around them through relationships. Research has shown that sensitive, responsive relationships are the foundation of healthy development. What children experience everyday, including how people respond to them, shapes their development.

Parents/family and childcare providers are key people in a young baby’s life. Quality licensed child care providers recognize young children as individuals with unique needs, provide security, and an interesting, safe, healthy and developmentally appropriate setting to explore and learn. Parents and providers work together to provide the best possible experience for a developing child and their family.
